Who We Are

The story of Softclaw Rubber Tire Chains begins in Lancaster County in the 1980's. Seeing a need for tire chains that didn't scratch hard surfaces, the product began with only being available for sale through wholesalers under the name Anti-Scratch Traction Aid, or ASTA Traction.

In 2013, ASTA Traction was purchased by J Esh Manufacturing, and then rebranded as Softclaw Rubber Tire Chains in 2017.

Through the recent changes, the mission and focus of the company and product has remained the same: providing a product that provides traction while protecting paved and concrete surfaces!

Today the rubber tire chains are produced by an Amish family-run operation in New Providence, PA. We are proud to have all parts sourced from the United States, and we sell our products throughout North America.
